Abstract: In the recent years, there is an environmental issue of cement industry being the main contributor of carbon dioxide emission. Ways to reduce the use of Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) have been investigated through using mineral admixtures to replace cement. This replacement of admixtures not only can reduce the use of cement; it can also improve the properties of concrete. In this study, mineral admixtures such as Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS) and Ultra Fine GGBS (UFGGBS) were used as replacement of cement to investigate the properties of concrete such as compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and the heat of hydration.
