Abstract: To create clean energy future, renewable energy generation such as solar and wind are more and more important now a day. Solar power is one of the growing sectors in the renewable energy research. It is crucial to get the most power available out of the solar power systems. Therefore, it is very important to design a power converter and maximum power point tracking controller to fully utilize the available sun energy. This report includes literature review on the theory of photovoltaic cells, power converters and its controllers. This report also discusses the design process of photovoltaic cells models, boost converter and maximum power point tracking controllers.PSIM software is extensively used in this project and simulated results will be discussed in detail.
