Issue Date: 2012
Abstract: In this study, LCP was blended with PBT to form blend system with different proportions and Nanosilica N-200 was then added to another yet same blend system with different proportions as well. The scope of this study focuses on the development and characterization of a blend system consisting of LCP, PBT and Nanosilica N-200. The blends were then moulded and the specimens were used for morphological, mechanical and dynamic tests. Different amounts of LCP were added to the PBT and they are compared in terms of their morphology, mechanical and dynamic properties. Although LCP can increase the mechanical strength of the blend systems, too much LCP added to PBT can also cause the overall performance of the blend systems to deteriorate. Thus, an optimum proportion is necessary and it is determined from the results of all the tests.
