Abstract: Voice Conversion is a process where new voices can be generated from an existing voice, or even used to mimic a voice based on a database of sample voices. In this Final Year Project (FYP), we will look at the mechanism of voice conversion, focusing on the Vocal Tract Length Normalization (VTLN) technique.Using the voice conversion MATLAB toolbox STRAIGHT, this project will explore the relationship between voices and set up transformation mechanisms using various VTLN warping functions to generate different voices from an existing voice. The functions will then be utilized together with MATLAB routines in a Graphical User Interface(GUI) to enable user to step through the program runtime execution with ease. The demo program will make use of the mechanism for traditional voice conversion as well as certain special effects to demonstrate the application of the technique.
