Abstract: Nowadays, school exams and various professional tests have become an important platform to test candidates’ academic ability or professional skill. However, these exams or tests, especially when a large number of people are involved, are usually associated with high manpower costs. These manpower costs arise from the large number of human invigilators deployed in the exam setting. This project will focus on the design and developments of a robotic exam invigilator that will serve in examination set-up and ensure the proper operation while the exam is in progress. It will not only minimize the manpower costs but also the unnecessary human error caused.Our robotic exam invigilator serves the purpose of reducing the manpower costs during exams. It can replace human invigilators to distribute papers, verify candidates’ identity, communicate with candidates when problems arise, etc. It has huge potential market values and can be widely used in all types of exams with some modifications to its functions. In our project, NTU examinations and continuous assessments (CAs) settings are assumed. The robot invigilator can be used during NTU examinations/CAs as invigilators throughout the exam process. Only one main invigilator is needed to control the robot.
