Abstract: Solar energy is one of the most popular clean energy sources that mankind can rely on in the future. To realize the full use of solar energy, nowadays both grid-connected and off-grid photovoltaic systems are put into use. A grid-connected photovoltaic system is connected to the grid through an inverter by which it feeds power into AC loads when sunlight is available. An off-grid system, however, can directly power DC loads without the use of an inverter. In remote areas where a power grid is unavailable, off-grid solar system will be served as the sole source of electricity.
