Abstract: In recent times, Quartz oscillators have been replaced by MEMS oscillators which are smaller in packaging and sold at similar prices. The latter are able to operate at higher temperatures with higher tolerance for mechanical shock and provide better reliability. The performance of MEMS oscillators depend on a number of factors such as jitter, stability, power consumption and temperature operation range.
