Abstract: With the increasing demand for high strength engineering structures, detailed studies and analyses on high strain rates tensile, compressive or torsional loading of materials are necessary to evaluate their properties for safe usage. The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) is capable of evaluating the dynamic behavior of materials from 100/s strain rate to as high as 10,000/s strain rates.
