Title: Processing of amorphous magnesium glasses
Authors: Heng, Yi Ming.
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering
Issue Date: 2012
Abstract: Metallic glasses, since its discovery in 1960s have drawn much attention to researchers and scientist throughout the world due to the exceptional properties they possess over their crystalline counterparts. With the development of bulk metallic glasses in the 1980s by Inoue, it has broadened the applicability of metallic glasses, with applications like sporting goods as well as forming of micro-components like gears. In this project, Mg-based metallic glasses will be explored due to their excellent strength to weight ratio as well as its biocompatibility, which can be useful for biomedical applications like heart stents.
