Abstract: Rock mass is distinguished from other engineering materials by the existence of discontinuities. The discontinuities ranging in size from micro-defects to macrojoints greatly influence the dynamic behavior of rock mass. Efforts have been made to study the dynamic behavior of rock mass and the effects of discontinuities on wave propagation.
