Abstract: In a modern and thriving economy, a constant source of energy supply is required for long-term sustainability and survivability. However the current existing source of energy supply, mainly burning of fossil fuels, is not only limited in supply but polluting in nature. A clean and abundant source of energy that can produce electricity without polluting the environment is required in the long-term. Thus, there is the recent emphasis of renewable energy technology in our society. Solar energy that is obtained using photovoltaic (PV) cell proved to be one of those options available in the renewable energy market. However photovoltaic cells nowadays have relatively low conversion efficiency. Therefore there is a need to develop an efficient control technique which would harvest the maximum available energy that can be obtained from the sun. This report would document, (1) The developed control techniques for photovoltaic energy systems (2) The simulation results carried out for Series-Resonant DC-DC Converter (3) The hardware prototype of the Series-Resonant DC-DC Converter (4) DC to AC Conversion and recommendations for future developments
