Abstract: Tourism has been contributing an average of 6% to the GDP of Thailand in the last 20 years, one of the highest in South East Asia. In the same period, Thailand has been hit by financial crises, political upheavals, the SARS epidemic and a tsunami. Despite the impact of these crises, the tourism industry in Thailand has shown remarkable resilience in its economic recovery, showing only a transient dip before continuing on its upward trend of growth.
