As a great classical masterpiece of China, it has a profound meaning and social value. In the “DaoDeJing” there are nearly five thousand words. However, “soft” is a basic line through “DaoJing”. There are a lot of examples of this, such as “preserve soft”, “not always competing”, “keep quiet and do nothing” and so on. Some contemporary scholars introduce the idea of “soft” into the discussion of "sex" or "feminism" area. “Keep soft”is been regarded as a women's unique character, they think that Lao Tzu emphasized an equality of the sexes in the society. However, I think that the idea of “preserve soft” does not refer to the “feminism”, but “natural” state. This paper gives an analysis about the different styles and imageries of “soft” and re-examining the interpretation of Lao Tzu's “feminism” by contemporary scholars.||URI:||http://hdl.handle.net/10356/51261||Rights:||Nanyang Technological University||Fulltext Permission:||restricted||Fulltext Availability:||With Fulltext|
