|Title:||从《海南遇上潮州》看新加坡华语语系群体中的弱势族群 = “When Hainan Meets Teochew” : an analysis on the disadvantaged minority amongst Singapore Chinese||Authors:||纪美诗 Ji, Angelina Meishi||Keywords:||DRNTU::Humanities||Issue Date:||2013||Abstract:||众所周知,新加坡是一个多民族、多元语言的移民国家,有英语、华语、马 来语和泰米尔语等为本地的四大官方语言。虽然新加坡是个移民国家,但她是一个 华语语系的族群,因此大多数的新加坡人都会以华语,甚至是华语方言(如福建话、 广东话、潮州语等)作为沟通的工具。然而,必须注意的是,新加坡华人所讲的华 语,语言揉杂化是一个非常普遍的现象,人们常常将正统华语与华语方言混杂为一 体来作为他们日常的沟通方式。然而,近年来,越来越多的年轻华人已不再通晓华 语方言,以致对于父母或祖父母所讲的方言皆不明了。 本文将以《当海南遇上潮州》为例,将焦点放在海南语和潮州语上,来探讨 新加坡华人方言在这个社会的现状以及它们逐渐消失的原因。 《当海南遇上潮州》里的另一个主题是社会上的酷儿现象。主角们身为跨性 别者,是社会弱势群体的一分子,面对的不止是社会投以他们的异样眼光,也面对 着家人所施于他们的压力。 本文也将通过主角的跨性别身份来分析他们(或酷儿)在这个社会的逼迫下 所面对的身份认同的难题。 Singapore being a multi-racial country has English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil as its four major language. With majority of the population being Chinese, we can thus regard Singapore as a Sinophone community, where citizens speak either Mandarin, and/or the Chinese dialects. Creolization is also a common phenomenon amongst Singaporean Chinese. However, it has come to my notice that many Chinese are slowly losing their roots, especially when they no longer understand the dialects spoken by the older generation. Therefore, this thesis aims to analyse the dialects spoken in the movie, “When Hainan Meets Teochew”, especially focusing on Teochew and Hainanese, and the reasons behind its lost of stand in the Sinophone community in Singapore. Also, this thesis hopes to bring out another topic in the movie, which is the queer scene in Singapore. The characters, being transgender, not only face with many obstacles the society gives them, but also the fear of rejection from their own family members and loved ones.
