Abstract: Over the years, the increasing number of fraudulent cases occurring has brought along with it a lot of negative repercussions. Often, the external auditors face legal litigation as the public feels that the former has failed to detect the fraudulent activities when they conduct their audit engagement and hence they should be made liable to pay for financial losses.
