Title: | Molecular imaging in small animals (MISA) | Authors: | Foo, Kristin Zhi Ting. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Computer science and engineering::Computer applications::Life and medical sciences | Issue Date: | 2013 | Abstract: | Based on the influx of mobile apps in today’s society, Molecular Imaging in Small Animals (MISA) will focus on the development of an information-based molecular imaging app using modalities and applications based on the instruments used in preclinical imaging. The final product will be published mainly to scientists who may find the app useful when deciding on instrument purchases that will aid them in their research. The development of MISA will take on a business-like approach. This includes making the app user-friendly and design-friendly. MISA comprises of two main categories, Modality and Application. Modality consists of instrument products which are promoted to life scientists and researchers. Application refers to the areas in which the instruments can be used, such as in medical research. The app can be easily browsed by users who download the app. On first use, the user has to provide his email before browsing. The layout and functionalities of the app are discussed. MISA is heavily based on fragments such as tabs, ViewPagers and Expandable lists, which contribute to the user-friendliness and ease of user browsing. For enquiries, a Contact Us section is available for users to send an email to the company. Some limitations include network connectivity related to the APK used. Some recommendations to improve on the app include forwarding the registered email to the Contact Us section to allow easier emailing, and providing statistical reports to find out what users frequently browse and narrow it down to their preferences. However the downside is, it defeats the purpose of free browsing. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/52020 | Schools: | School of Computer Engineering | Organisations: | Sciencewerke | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
