Title: | Serendipity : when art meets nature. | Authors: | Lim, Roxanne Ruo Shan. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Arts in general DRNTU::Visual arts and music::Print media |
Issue Date: | 2013 | Abstract: | 'Serendipity' started from my personal encounter in nature. It is an exploration of my serendipitous encounter in nature that thereafter evolved into the love of simplicity, of finding beauty in imperfection and seeing more in less. Through examination and intimate interaction with nature, I started to take pleasure in the natural occurrence of trees. Nature fascinates me– the process of growth and decay in trees makes no two items found in nature look alike. The beauty of these imperfections is in fact beyond looking at physical characteristics. The heartfelt study of trees brought about an even bigger realization that nothing in the world is perfect, and that unique flaws can also lead us to our greatest strengths and treasures. This paper focuses on the symbolisms, meanings, values associated to nature and trees, as well as my exploration findings in foundwood. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/52349 | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
