Abstract: The Girl and Her Tail is a _ minutes 2D animated short film. It is an abstract dance sequence which tells of a girl who struggles with her identity of having an extra limb – a tail. It is an emotional film that plays with the movement of music and the body to express complex emotions throughout the whole process of struggle with her tail. This project was initiated after another project, which was pitched during the pre-production module (ANI380 Animation Development and Pre-Production), was rejected by the panels of professors. An almost panicky and painful process of searching for a topic for the FYP then followed, wherein by the start of the new academic year, The Girl and Her Tail was roughly drafted. The processes of how the project came about will be covered in this report, and presented in a chronological manner of stages.
