Issue Date: | 2013 | Abstract: | Three dimensional model of an earth terrain can be created using existing data available around the internet, especially those that were provided by Google Earth. Although this data can recreate such 3D model of a terrain, it’s still lacking some elements including but not limited to buildings, foliage or plants and many more. With the help of Google Earth data, this report proposes some methods to create a 3D earth terrain complete with its buildings and plants. This report concentrates more on how the users can add plants and foliage into the 3D terrain model in several different ways. To demonstrate this, a software prototype has been developed in Java which can recreate 3D earth terrain easily as well as adding buildings into specified location. An existing program named Blender which is a free and open-source used to process 3D computer graphics from creating 3D models to visual effects. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/52791 | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
