Abstract: Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial (DVB-T) is a standard set in 1997 and was utilized in 1998 for the transmission of digital terrestrial television (DTT). DVB-T is able to transmit many different kinds of data such as compressed digital information, digital video, digital audio, Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) and other data with codec modulation. DVB-T is now the most commonly used method of transmitting video streams to all consumers and homes. Television sets are so far the currently used device to view these video streams. To really utilize this DVB-T technology, there is a need to try out new concept to test this technology on other electronics devices such as laptops and personal computers. The main objective of this project is to test this concept and see whether it will work out for IP streaming. Many conversions have to be done to ensure the correct data type reaches the end user and the desired video output is achieved. Two modes are used in this case namely the wired mode and the wireless mode. Apart of this, data acquisition is also carried out to measure signal strength of DVB-T signals. Comparison will give a better view whether it will affect the quality of the video output. There are many constraints which contributed to this project such as noise interference, obstructions and obstacles that will greatly affect the transmission of data and signals. Few measures are implemented to try resolving these constraints but some are inevitable. Hopefully in the future, there will be improved transmission technology or better devices to compromise these constraints and achieving a more fruitful result.
