Authors: Raymond Sebastian
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering::Civil engineering::Construction management
Issue Date: 2013
Abstract: The rise of PPP in the construction industry was spurred by the budgetary constraint of governments and recently the financial crisis. Research papers from the year of 2009 to 2012 are reviewed and categorized according their topic of interest. Subsequently, the trends are highlighted and the paper is concluded by suggesting two potential research areas complete with proposed methodology for each topic. The first is alternative finance which explores the success factors and causes of failures of each method. The second proposed research is the entry mode strategy of construction companies looking to position itself in the international markets. In addition, the case study of Singapore in developing industrial parks overseas is discussed extensively. Bearing in mind the issues faced in entering the foreign market, two solutions are proposed to be studied further. The first is the differentiated management approach to manage differences between two countries while the second is the special type of joint venture where one party will run the operations due to its high expertise while the local partner will provide advice and support.
