Abstract: The development of wireless power technology for biomedical implant application has accelerated over the past years due to its potential in reducing surgeries to change the internal battery for biomedical implant patients. Lesser surgeries will translate to lesser surgical risk to undertake and more time and money saved. Resonant inductive coupling provides such a solution as it is short-ranged energy transfer and involves magnetic field which does not interact with most materials. Theories and parameters involved were provided as supplements to the project. Literature review gives an overview of the researches which had been done. Analyses on electrical toothbrush, research papers and biomedical implantable devices give a more in-depth look into the constraints and limitations and explore parameters which can be optimized. Experiments were carried out to verify the analyses done and outline the parameters which can be optimized. Comparisons of the various parameters were also done. Concept design was explained to fulfill the proposed system. Lastly, prototype coils were designed and optimized; power-transfer efficiency of more than 50% was obtained.
