Title: | Ultraprecision turning of glass lenses by applying ultrasonic vibration on the tool tip | Authors: | Wang, Xiaojie. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Manufacturing | Issue Date: | 2000 | Abstract: | In this project, off-the-shelf ultrasonic vibration equipment is modified to suit the requirement of machining. Specifically, the vibrating horn for amplifying the amplitude and mounting the cutting tip needs to be designed and fabricated. Then a series of fundamental machining experiments are to be carried out to help fomulate the relationship between the ultrasonic vibration parameters and machining conditions and surface roughness and cutting forces of the machined glass workpieces. The effects of introducing the ultrasonic vibration to the tool tip will be examined. These experimental results can be of significant contribution to the machining of brittle materials. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/5357 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Production Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
