Abstract: Biomedical imaging is one of the most important tools for diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. Most of the existing imaging tools such as MRI, X-Ray and CAT scan are suitable for imaging at organ or tissue level. However, imaging systems suitable for imaging of cellular or molecular level is needed for the early detection and diagnosis of diseases and cancer. Widefield microscopy has a diffraction limited resolution that is insufficient for most cellular or molecular imaging. Fluorescence microscopy of various modifications has resolution of up to 50 nm but requires labelling, possibly affecting clinical result through probe-cell interactions. Scanning electron microscopy do not require labelling and has resolution of about 1 nm, but requires the environment to be vacuum, hence unsuitable for live ceil imaging.
