Title: An android-based embedded system development using Beagleboard-xM evaluation board

Abstract: This report first involved the familiarization of the ARM Cortex-A8 based BeagleBoard-xM, which is a product-ready hardware and software evaluation board cater for the needs on embedded applications. Next, the development of Android-based embedded system on BeagleBoard-xM will be discussed, to allow suitable Android Application to be easily developed and download onto the embedded system. In addition, portable gaming devices, remote sensing and home surveillance may be the potential applications for this BeagleBoard-xM. Follow by, the porting of Android Ice-Cream Sandwich Operation System; it is chosen to be the Operation System for Beagleboard-xM. The porting of features such as Bluetooth, 7’LCD and Wi-Fi are discussed as well in this report, to give portability to the board. In addition, the result of successful porting will be discussed as well.
