Abstract: Microcontroller has slowly become part of our lives from its creation a few decades ago. It exists in various parts of our daily lives from the traffic lights on the roads to refrigerator and television at home. In this project, application would be develop for interfacing with a microcontroller system. The main objective of the project was to investigate the use of the PIC18F452 microcontroller through the use of the PICDEM2 Plus Demo Board. In the project, an automated pet care taker was developed to demonstrate the features of the PICDEM2 Plus board. The capability of the microcontroller would also be studied in the process. The design of the system involved features of the microcontroller such as analog to digital, pulse width modulation, general purpose input/output ports, timer and interrupt which were be discussed in the report.
