Title: | Investigation of wavelength-tunable supercontinuum light sources | Authors: | Shao, Qikang. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering | Issue Date: | 2013 | Abstract: | The supercontinuum phenomenon has drawn great research attention since its discovery. In general, supercontinuum is resulted from the synergy of some fundamental complex nonlinear processes. Although theses contributors are already indentified to be group-velocity dispersion, self-phase modulation, cross-phase modulation, stimulated Raman scattering, four-wave mixing and higher-order dispersion, their relative functions during the process still remain blurry. In order to identify the functions of each process and make foundation for supercontinuum light sources. Theoretical study and modeling are conducted under the framework of nonlinear fiber optic and the numerical modeling are performed on the MATLAB platform. The simulations conducted presents symmetry and asymmetry in different set-ups. And pulse’s red-shift and blue-shift are identified in the results of the simulations. Discussions are made upon these findings. Furthermore, based on these findings, a method to control supercontinuum generation is brought forward. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/54576 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
