Title: Design and fabrication of simple geometric patterns Part II
Authors: Abbhinaya Pragasam
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering
Issue Date: 2013
Abstract: The objective of this project is to develop an interactive design tool that allows users to create and fabricate simple geometric patterns using computer aided design (CAD) software. This project aims to build up on an existing program named ‘Constructor’ developed by a previous author/programmer, thus achieving a more complete program for window and door pattern designing. SolidWorks (SW) CAD system is used to develop the program under the Visual Basic.NET environment. Application Programming Interface (API) allows interaction between the two environments. This enables the automation of select embedded CAD productivity tools whereby the user is able to modify specific parameters to manipulate the shape, size and layout of their window and door pattern designs. This automatically generates a 3-dimensional CAD model reflecting their specific modifications. A summary of the ‘Constructor’ program done by the previous developer is included explaining key features of the foundation for the program.
