Issue Date: 2013
Abstract: This Project is aiming to understand of the basic engineering mechanic concept in aerospace material structure, and learn the basic theory of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics. By using the finite element analysis method, to perform the stress study for various interacting crack, and calculate the stress intensity factor and plastic zone size for interacting cracks in solids. 5 categories of simulation and analysis will be presented in this report, as:  Single crack on the infinite sheet with various of crack length and different force applied,  Branching of crack on the infinite sheet with different crack length, different distance between the crack, and different location on the sheet. (In line to each other)  Branching of crack on the infinite sheet with different crack length, different distance between the crack, and different location on the sheet. (perpendicular to each other)  Branching of crack on the infinite sheet with different crack length, different distance between the crack, and different location on the sheet. (Angle to each other)  Branching of crack on the infinite sheet with different crack length, different distance between the crack, and different location on the sheet. (Parallel to each other) From the data obtained thru the simulation and analysis, to define which will be the most effected in the simulated cases and which will be the less effect in the simulation.
