Abstract: Information is the lifeblood of an organisation. In an increasingly competitive business environment of our day, access to useful and accurate information empowers an organisation to make strategic operational and managerial decisions. IT assets facilitate the provision of such information on a timely basis. Many large companies and multinational corporations tap on the expertise of consulting firms to re-engineer their processes and offer technological solutions to business needs. However, there is a dearth of case studies on smaller Or medium-sized companies doing the same thing. Such a situation motivates us to consider how IT can facilitate information flow within firms. As part of our consideration, we have undertaken an experimental case study looking into a construction firm's accounting system.
