Abstract: The major themes of this research project are: (a) preparation of the composite feedstock, i.e., pre-alloyed and spheroidized ZrOi/NiCoCrAlY powders for the deposition of functionally graded materials (FGM); (b) computation of thermal stresses in FGM thermal barrier coating system using finite element method; (c) preparation of FGM coatings using composite feedstock and evaluation of their physical, mechanical and thermal properties; and (d) application of post-spray treatment for plasma sprayed FGM coatings.
