Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: In the world today, great emphasis has been placed on the conservation issues, especially urban conservation. Most of the nations worldwide are currently engaged in the conservation of their nation's precious resources. Singapore is one of the nations whose Government and citizens are actively involved in the conservation projects. The rationale behind this move is to boost the tourism industry and at the same time to preserve the country's cultural heritage. One of the important conservation efforts undertaken by the Government is the conservation of the old buildings, particularly for the use as hotels.
