Abstract: One of the most ambitious projects undertaken by the Singapore government commenced in the 1980s when the Mass Rapid Transit System (referred to as MRT hereinafter) was first constructed. At that time, that was just the beginning of realising the vision of a world-class transportation system in Singapore. No matter how one looks at it, the notion that the MRT will have a significant and far-reaching influence on the property values and the pattern of urban development and growth is beyond doubt.
