The project traces the development of an organization uncovering the main influential factors that shaped its strategic direction. An extensive review of academic literature on various aspects of organizational development provided the theoretical basis for the study. A case study was conducted on the Development Bank Of Singapore, a well documented and high profile company termed as one of the big four banks of Singapore. The case subject's historical development was recorded and analyzed. Thereafter, these developments were re-examined against the academic literature to compare and contrast the Bank's actual direction with the theoretical models covered in the literature review. The findings coincided with more recent literature which suggest that organizations are influenced by a multitude of forces. The case study also revealed that these forces interacted with one another in a continuous process.en_US
