dc.description.abstract | This study focuses on one type of single-period inventory problems known as the newsboy problem. The newsboy problem occurs in a single period and is characterised by one ordering opportunity and an uncertain demand which poses the difficulty in-determining the optimal order quantity. Any unused inventory will result in overstocking costs while a shortage of inventory will cause managers to incur losses in terms of lost sales and loss of goodwill. | en_US |
