Abstract: This research seeks to assess the attractiveness of China to Singapore investors. This was done by examining various reasons, factors and incentives that have an influence on Singapore investors. Sensitive issues and problems, that were encountered by the Singapore investors, were also addressed. The different forms of investment and the areas of investment available to Singapore investors were discussed. In addition, detailed studies were also made on Suzhou Township, support and incentives provided by both the Singapore and the Chinaese government, as well as the protections available to Singapore investors. Questionnaires were sent to 100 investors, and a sample of 31 was obtained. Respondents were asked to rank various factors and problems in terms of its favourability. The data was also interpreted using information gathered from the survey. An interview was conducted with Associate Professor Xu Xiao-Ming, Economic and Management School, Fudan University, Shanghai, China, during his visit to Singapore in August 1994. The result of the interview helps to reinforce our understanding of China and provide greater insights to our study.
