Keywords: | DRNTU::Business | Issue Date: | 1995 | Abstract: | The insurance industry of Singapore has been growing steadily for the last few decades. Recent years has witnessed a high growth rate. The Nanyang Technological University, therefore, created a stream of specialization in insurance in its Bachelor of Business degree to equip the graduates entering the insurance industry with the necessary skills. This Report seeks to investigate the prospects of these graduates in the insurance industry. The objective is to determine the approach of the insurance companies towards the employment of graduates with insurance specialization. The trends in the employment of the insurance graduates are also observed. It is hoped that, as a result of this study, measures can be adopted to improve the insurance course at the NTU. The techniques used include literature review and analysis of the data collected by interviews and a survey. Interviews were conducted with the various companies in the insurance industry. A survey was also undertaken. A questionnaire was issued with open and close ended questions. Analysis of statistics of a few past years was also made. From such findings, the conclusion reached is that a positive growth in the insurance industry does help to increase the demand for qualified insurance personnel like the NTU's insurance graduates. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/58601 | Schools: | Nanyang Business School | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
