Abstract: We Hope, We Dream, We Fear seeks to discover intersections between religion and society, as well as the places at which they take different stands. Christian art in the context of western art history served as a mirror to the societies that produced it, depicting crucial biblical scenes as a reflection of strongly felt values. This project hopes to reflect, in the same way, issues close to the Singaporean psyche. Through the use of appropriating and re-interpreting well-known Christian artworks into a Singaporean context, this project is interested in translating various Singaporean concerns into visual allegory.
