Abstract: This project is about my reflections on the paradox on the love and abusive relationships between humans and animals. I am curious to find out how these two contradictory terms are able to coincide in humans. I researched on the various ways human and animals interact with each other, such as pets, animal research, animal symbolism and food and the various psychological levels that humans experience when it comes to thinking about animals. The consumerist lifestyle of people, growing economical society and urbanisation are important factors in affecting the way we feel about animals. I then share my project development process into creating an illustration book that reflects my understanding of the human-animal relationship.
