Abstract: GST is a tax on domestic retail consumption, collected at each stage of the business cycle. It works by measuring the amount of "value added" at all stages of production and distribution. It was implemented in Singapore on 1 April 1994 to encourage the spirit of enterprise and maintain an attractive business environment via lower corporate and income tax rates.
