Abstract: The CPF Investment and Education Schemes were implemented by the Central Provident Fund Board in 1986 and 1989 respectively. The Investment scheme aims to enhance the savings of the CPF members through prudent investments while the Education scheme enables CPF members to use the funds to pay for their children's or siblings' tertiary education. In March 1993, the government announced liberalisations to the Investment scheme and on top of that, the Top Up scheme.
