Let's not forget about e-waste

Abstract

This paper presents the Let‘s Not Forget About E-Waste Campaign, the first-ever student-led communication campaign in Singapore to encourage Singaporeans to recycle their electronic-waste (e-waste), organized by four final year students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.

Targeted at working adults aged 22 to 45, the campaign aims to generate awareness amongst Singaporeans about the impact of improperly disposed e-waste on our health and the environment, inform them about available and accessible recycling points and empower the public to be a part of saving the environment and resources by recycling their electronic waste.

The campaign seeks to further our country‘s quest in being a clean and green nation by encouraging culture of e-waste recycling in Singapore, on top of recycling paper, plastic and glass.

This paper summarises the primary and secondary research that shaped key campaign strategies. It outlines the process from creative conception to execution of communication strategies and examines the overall effectiveness of the campaign tactics employed through extensive evaluative measures. Evaluation also includes the various difficulties and triumphs met through the journey, future recommendations for the campaign and continual work to further e-waste recycling efforts in Singapore.

This report also includes detailed appendices that support the main text, and original collateral designs are accompanied for further reference.
