Title: | Energy and exergy analysis of wind in humid surrounding | Authors: | Chia, Raymond Kang Rong | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering | Issue Date: | 2014 | Abstract: | There is an increase use of fossil fuel which results in fossil fuel depletion as well as increase in environmental problems. Therefore there is a need to find an alternative energy source which is cleaner and renewable. Wind energy is thought to be one of the cleaner and environmental friendly resources. It is understood that with the use of wind turbine, it can facilitate the conversion of wind energy to electrical power via the means of mechanical system. Location of the wind turbine is a vital factor. This is to exploit the maximum power out of the wind turbine. There are other contributing factors that will affect the efficiency of a turbine. Therefore in this project, dry air and moist air is being selected for further analysis with regards to its efficiency. Singapore is a hot and humid country and in this project, humidity is one of the factors that will be used to analyze energy and exergy analysis of wind turbine. Analysis demonstrated that a wind turbine is suitable for Singapore to certain limitation as there are restrictions to location of the wind turbine. Wind energy would not be the main source of energy but it will be an aid for the fossil fuel and reducing of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. Therefore this eventually helps to reduce global warming. Future work can be done by modeling on even complicated models and collecting further data points to achieve more accurate result. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/60380 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
