Abstract: This report contains an introduction to the basic concepts behind Injection- Locked Frequency Dividers (ILFD). In addition, literature review of LC CMOS ILFD is performed and the results were reproduced using Cadence SpectreRF simulator in 65nm CMOS technology. The author studied the reference design and analyzed how the topology that was chosen by the paper were able to enhance the locking range of the Injection-Locked Frequency Divider. The stimulation results and steps of a 60GHz injection-locked frequency divider that operate at 1.2V consuming 1.65mW that has a operating range of 48.5-62.9GHz using 0dBm input power is presented. The author also makes improvement to the reference Injection-Locked Frequency Divider that was stimulated using dual injection technique. The improvement design consumed a power of 1.7mW that has a locking range of 46.4-66.4GHz (35% improvement compare to previous work).
