Abstract: New technical innovations are enabling individuals to use mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) that are more stylish and powerful than ever. The purpose of this project is to design an unconventional form factor that combines mobile phone and PDA into one inexpensive, space-saving, portable device that makes lives more convenient to manage. To achieve this goal, research was conducted in a wide range of areas including: biometrics and security issues, display and battery technologies, latest and futuristic mobile communication technologies, ergonomics, customer demand analysis and design for assembly (DFA) to achieve this goal. Based on key findings in these areas, one final design was proposed.
