Title: | GE-25 : effects of GGBS and lime/MgO on the engineering properties of Kaolin | Authors: | Chua, Serene Jie Lin | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Civil engineering::Geotechnical | Issue Date: | 2014 | Abstract: | This report investigates the use of lime-activated GGBS for improving the engineering properties of soil to be used for land reclamation purposes. A series of laboratory tests were conducted to investigate the changes in the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of the modified soil and these tests include unconfined compression test and the field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). In all, the influence of the type of stabiliser, binder content, Lime:GGBS ratio and curing period on the UCS of the specimens were addressed in this report. Furthermore, soaking tests were conducted to examine the stability of the modified soil in sea water and distilled water. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/60680 | Schools: | School of Civil and Environmental Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
