Title: GE-33AB : application of soft materials for reclamation fill
Authors: Lim, Hak Soon

Issue Date: 2014
Abstract: Rapid urbanisation and economic development has placed great emphasis for more land reclamation projects to be carried out in Singapore. However, such projects require a large quantity of granular fill materials, which is deficient in Singapore. On the other hand, large amounts of soft cohesive soil are generated through infrastructure development and dredging works and the disposal of such soils becomes a major problem. One ideal solution is to recycle these dredged wastes as fill materials, but however soft clay is not used extensively due to the research gaps on its behaviour during filling and soil improvement processes.
