Aspects of the grammar of the Ngeq language

Abstract

Ngeq (also known as Kriang) is a Mon-Khmer language of the Katuic branch. This poorly-understood language is spoken in the provinces of southern Laos. An understanding of the grammar of the Ngeq language will aid in the study of Katuic languages in the mainland Southeast Asia region. This thesis presents a synchronic analysis of the phonetics and phonology of Ngeq, as well as word classes and morphology in the language. The concept of register is briefly considered and evaluated in the context of this language.
