Title: | Low cost 3D imaging system | Authors: | Liu, Dazhong | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Mechanical engineering::Machine design and construction | Issue Date: | 2014 | Abstract: | This report details the author’s work on two separate parts of the final year project. The first involves the design and fabrication of a Compact Light Projection System. Building on an existing system, the author challenges to reduce the footprint and make it more portable. Another objective is to make it compatible for vertical mounting and horizontal mounting to scan objects from both the top and front plane. The completed product is then calibrated and tested with various samples to find out the capabilities and limitations. Second part of the report focus on the Low Cost Light Scanning System whereby components and materials are constrained to a defined budget. In this portion, the author experimented with several options to determine the most effective set-up. The set-up is then tested with samples to determine its usability. The report ends with the conclusion drawn after the completion of the projects. Recommendations were also suggested for certain aspects to improve upon in any future attempts which seek to build upon the existing work. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/60948 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
