Abstract: Excavation has become one of the most popular earthworks in Singapore. Excavation is defined as the man-made cut, cavity or depression in earth surface which is formed after the removal of work, rock or other material. In order to have a safe and economic design, estimating the factor of safety is a critical factor in the design process.
